Description

A two-day skills development workshop for healthcare professionals who have completed an MBSR course and are interested in integrating mindfulness into their work with patients/clients.

Overview

Following on from undertaking an eight-week mindfulness course, this advanced workshop provides focused support for healthcare professionals who are interested in enhancing their mindfulness practice and exploring means of introducing mindfulness to their service users.

The workshop includes meditation practice, role-play, discussion and feedback, exploring the following areas:

  • How to deepen your own personal mindfulness skills
  • How to introduce and use mindfulness skills and techniques with patients/clients
  • How mindfulness can be integrated into the service user environment and workplace
  • Challenges and opportunities when working with and introducing mindfulness


Who Should Attend

This event is ideal for healthcare professionals (such as GPs, nurses, therapists, councillors and coaches) who have completed an eight-week mindfulness course (or the five-day MBSR Intensive course).

Your Trainers

This workshop will be co-facilitated by the Founding Director of The Northern Centre for Mindfulness and Compassion, Robert Broughton, and the Clinical Director of York Stress and Trauma Centre, Matthew Cole.

Robert Broughton is a professional mindfulness, well-being and emotional intelligence coach, specialising in stress and neurobiology having trained with some of the field's leading researchers in the US and the UK. Robert's background includes 30 years of personal meditation study and practice. Over the past six years he has facilitated mindfulness courses and workshops for over 500 delegates in a variety of settings including schools, universities, charities and for the NHS. Robert founded The Northern Centre for Mindfulness and Compassion in 2009 and continues to take the lead in both managing the business and instructing courses.

Matthew Cole (MSc, BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), Specialist Practitioner, DipHE (MHS), RN (MH), PGCert Clinical Supervision, NLP Master practitioner, BABCP Accredited Trainer) has worked in health care since 1988, focussing on mental health since 1994. Matthew has worked in the MOD, the NHS, the private sector and for mental health charities. He is also an associate tutor at York St John University and provides clinical supervision to a range of private and public sector organisations. He is currently working on his PhD looking at integrating EMDR and mindfulness. Matthew's interest in mindfulness has grown over the past 13 years and he uses mindfulness based interventions daily in his clinical practice.
